I love bananas. Too bad that I can't eat them. If I eat a whole banana I am doubled over about 30 mintues later which lasts for a good 3 hours. If I eat half a banana, I'm still miserable for 2 hours. Not as bad, though. It doesn't seem to matter how many enzymes I take or anything else. Ever since I was a baby, I couldn't eat them. Too bad because I really love them!

I read a long time ago that if you suffer from migraines, do not eat bananas and chocalate. Some people are just allergic.

I use to get headaches years ago from a banana so I avoided them. Now they do not bother me. I only try and eat organic bananas. There is a difference for me.

When in the hospital, I ate the bananas there and they were not organic and I had no problem.

My body changed I guess. I love dried bananas. OMG

Bananas can indeed cause migraines. But when we put people on an anti-migraine diet, and tell them to stay away from bananas, it's not the banana, it's the peel. If you can make sure there is no peel stuck to the banana, you won't get migraines from them. Just shave the outside of the banana. The peel contains the same chemical found in red wine and chocolate, which produces migraines in some people. -- Robert B. Daroff, MD, president, American Headache Society, neurologist. University Hospitals of Cleveland.
