Bath Products, Lotion, etc

Hey everyone.. The dry skin post made me think about this. What products do you use that don't cause you to cough? I started using Clinique (when I can afford it!) and Aveeno. They don't bother me at all. I love the feel of lotion, and so much of that stuff bothers my lungs. Aveeno doesn't smell. I love it! Also, do you ever use bubble bath or bath beads or bath fizzers? Sometimes that stuff doesn't bother me, but other times it's horrible! I just about quit using some of that, even though I miss it.

I love bath products and lotions and all that stuff! I'm addicted, my shower is over flowing! I worked at a place called L'Occitane, they make some fabulous stuff! It is on the spendy side but a little goes a long way and it is so worth it! Their shea butter line is phenomenal for dry skin. Most of it just smells very clean, not heavily scented at all. I adore the hand cream and body cream in the shea line. The soap is also amazing. Its triple milled so it is very dense and lasts forever. The shea soap is so rich and creamy I shave my legs with it and I get far less razor burn than with shave gel or cream. The almond line is wonderful too. It smells like vanilla and apple blossoms, but again not heavy. Their website is www.loccitane.com

I also use a lot of Bath and Body Works stuff because they have a lot of the fruity smells that I like. I am all about the Sparkling Peach and the Black Raspberry Vanilla in the winter months. I like Coconut Lime Verbena in the summer.

Bath and Body Works has to be one of the worst for my lungs. It's SOOOO perfumy. It didn't bother when I was younger, but in the last few years, I've not been able to use it. I can't even wear any perfume anymore. But my FEV1 is moderately low (ranges from 1.3-1.57 Liters)

For pure moisturization, I use the Lubriderm unscented lotion. It works great. You're right about the Aveeno, Jennifer. I bathe my twins in Aveeno body wash as well as slather my daughter with Aveeno Baby Daily Moisture Lotion. It doesn't bother me to use that.

There are a couple other mild lotions out there. One of my favorites is Sugar Body Lotion by BeautiControl. But you have to be part of the "club" to buy it. Or you have to know someone in the club. My contact dropped out, so I'm really missing it! I have one bottle left.

There's another lotion out there, all natural stuff, nothing like the chemicals at Bath and Body Works etc. It's called LemonGrass Spa. They make body butters, scrubs, lotions and bath crystals. I went to one of their spa "parties" and couldn't find a scent I really liked, because I found them too strong. But they do make an unscented version of the lotion (for babies) and I dig that. As well as the "creamsicle" scent (yes, think orange vanilla cream popsicle) That was the only scent that wasn't too strong for me, but it's also my understanding that it's a seasonal scent, not available all the time.

That's my experience with lotions and body wash.

I am allergic to everything in the lotion department it seems... I have to change products every few months (we are talking rash and hives). I cannot touch bath and body works stuff. The only thing I am able to use on a continual basis is Mary Kay's Extra Emoliant (spell??) Night Creme. I used it on my feet and ankles. Everything gives me a headache or send my lungs into spasms that has a scent. I don't even do perfume anymore.

Ever since I developed MRSA Staph (years ago) I have only been able to use Dial soap (or very similar products). Dr. says stuff with perfumes and such messes with my skin's ability to heal and stay healed. Even my shampoo and conditioner has to be incredibly mild or unpleasant thing happen on my scalp. Oh, do I hate MRSA Staph.
