So, I took Maggie to a birthday party today, lots of her little girlfriends there.. Maybe 20+ kids plus their parents. Course I do the "scanning of the area", make sure no kids have green goo coming from their noses or hoarse coughing. All clear, kids look fairly healthy. Yeah I can relax<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Then the parents of the party say they are taking the kids on a treasure hunt can some parents come along to help. OK, we follow into the woods, through a path. A friend of mine(who is completely non-germaphobic )says"I think this is going into the pond, it grosses me out) I'm like WHAT! I follow ahead and I'm telling you this pond looks like pseudomonas spring. Skanky water, green water and Maggie is standing with her toes almost in it. The father of the b-day girl pulls out the treasure OUT OF THE POND!. A wet soaked box full of plastic bags full of treasure.(little toys). I look like a psycho saying Maggie you are not allowed to touch that water, you need to back away. Then they hand her a wet baggy from the water which I take from her. Maggie , of course wanted the treasure in it, but I told her I will hold on to it for her. (I'll buy her something else). I thought I was going to flip out. When we left the party I explained to her certain ponds of water , may have bacteria in them that make her sick and that is why I did what I did.
The rest of the party she had a good time. I have her in the bath right now. My friend (who knows Maggie has CF) says just let it go. I said something like I never worried about germs before. My son used to drink his bath water. Once you have a child with CF; pseudomonas is your nemesis. She was like Oh, does is pseudommonas bad for Maggie? Anyway, CF keeps you are your toes, to say the least. Never though I'ld have to check ahead of time if the party would end up at standing swamp area.
thanks for listening
