blood clot (pulmonary embolism) in cf

2 weeks ago i started mild hemoptysis which never subsided... upon hospital admission i was dx with a blood clot or wat is generally known as pulmonary embolism. Potential or common treatment is heparin but due to my case and fear of masive hemoptysis the treatment wasnt possible by any means. the question is has anyone experienced a blod clot and wat did you do? is it common in end stage cystic fibrosis?

Years ago, prior to my CF dx, I did have blood clots to my lungs...I am still on coumadin because I am at high risk of developing more of them. It is scary, I have had mild hemoptysis, usually with infections, but it does scare me that I might bleed exessively because of the blood thinners. I have had to have extra vit K due to high INR's and bleeding, they just watch me much closer than a normal patient who has had PE's. I think that your doc will watch you like a hawk too, report any bleeding etc while on therapy. I hope everything works out for you.

I am on Arixtra shots (blood thinner) for clots. Have had several clots in my veins , none in lungs that we know of..

I have had hemoptysis which is very frightening so I know how you feel about that. When have a bleed they do hold the Arixtra..

I hope they can find a happy medium for you.. it is a very thin line that they have to work with ..
