Blounts Disease

My daughter is going to Ortho Doc at the end of this month. Her legs are bowed and have been getting worse. On our last clinic appt they decided to do an xray (after me pushing the issue). At first they thought it could be Rickets. But ruled that out and said they believe its blounts disease. I have read up about this and was wondering if anyone has gone though this? She has been tripping more and she turns her toes in when she walks. Poor baby has been through so much. Just very upsetting.

I think I have had some PM message "conversations" with your mom! Our Luke has bowed legs and his feet turn in. He did not get diagnosed with blounts disease, so I don't know anything about that. We tried something called a telescope brace--hard plastic contraptions that they are supposed to wear at night. The go from the top of their leg to their toes. Luke was so miserable in them and they were interfering with night time feeds (he has a g tube), so we gave up on those. We are now trying some inserts in his shoes for the in-toeing and a knee im-mobilizing brace for at night (it is soft and velcroes on, so he tolerates it better). And it does seem to be getting better. He is still slightly bow-legged and the left foot still turns in a good bit when he walks but it is improving. He is 2 1/2 now, but I remember that at about 18 months his legs looked horrible!!! Just wanted to maybe encourage you that Luke's have gotten better and with pretty simple intervention that he does not seem to mind. Hang in there!
