Hi,

I have been looking for the same thing and to tell you the truth i cant find one that is up lifting at all. No ofense but most tell how people go thru all the bad stuff i want to read about the girl who goes to walmart while running her iv meds in her backback and goes on a crusie while she is in her ivs. My mom suggeseted that i write a book, have you ever thought of doing a diary or journal?

I recommend "Give Me One Wish" by Jacquie Gordon. It's by the mom of a girl with CF who didn't let CF stop her from enjoying her life.

Good luck,

The best book out there is by Dr Orenstein, Cystic Fibrosis for patients and families. It is his new book-printed about 2 years ago. Our CF center is giving a copy to all of the adults.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I second the suggestion of "The Spirit of Lo". I would also recommend subscribing to the CF Roundtable (<A href="http://www.cfroundtable.com">www.cfroundtable.com</A>). It is not a book, but a quarterly publication for and by adults with CF. I've gotten lots of inspiration, ideas and input from reading the Roundtable over the last 5 years.

I've read Alive at 25. It's a good book I'd recomend it to anyone wanting something uplifting to read.

Blindsided: Lifting a Life Above Illness: a Reluctant Memoir by Richard Cohen is fabulous.
He is Merideth Viera of the View's husband, and he has MS not CF, but they way he deals with life and all his obstacles which are different from a cf'er but his coping skills and outlook toward life are something that we are all too familiar with. it a very honest and accurate portrayal of living with a fatal disease.

I read the book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" by Harold Kushner for a class. It is written by a rabbi whose son died of a rare disease called progeria (a disease that causes advanced aging and very premature death.) I am not a really religious person of anything, but I think we have all had the why me debate with ourselves. This book talks about this and other things. It just gave me a new take on things, maybe it would help.

I received <u>Alive at 25</u> as a gift, I think it was good but not great.

<u>Breathing for a Living</u> I would reccommend...although not the most uplifting book ever, I love it and it has stayed with me since I read it a year ago. I forget the author, but it was written by a girl with CF through her thoughts she taped (like spoken diary entries) and her e-mails as she is going through a lung transplant.

I am sure we are all familiar with <u>Alex: The Life of a Child</u>, written by her father Frank DeFord. Also very touching, but not uplifting.

Good luck in your search!! I, too, would LOVE to read a story about someone "just like me" going through what I go through, as normally as possible...
