Hi I had C-diff as a post transplant complication. I guess I had it mild because it never came back and it was treated in about ten days. They gave me probiotics in the hospital and treated me with vancomycin. C-diff is dangerous and often difficult to treat. I am grateful that this has not returned. I did a little research today and found that there are two specific species of good bacteriums that help to treat C-diff.
I am posting this because I find it is interesting that babies, people with compromised immune systems are prone to this. C-diff has an awful smell and is known to be a bad type of diahrea. Sorry for the graphic description.
Here are the two species and Jarrow carries these independently to their general combination brands. Here they are Saccharomyces Boulardi and Lactobacillus Sporogenes. I forgot which one causes an immune response and I have not decided what type of immune response so I will be doing a lot of research and talking to my infection disease doctor.
I feel there is a possibility that If I had to take strong antibiotics again that C-diff could return and I want to be knowledgeable for the future.
I was given a brand of Jarrow it is a green bottle in the hospital and this is either the sporogenes or the Sacchromyces. Got to do a lot more research aka risasearch
Let me know what you find please or what you already know about these two bacteriums. Just something users of probiotics should know about~Risa
