Calling ALL Mommies!

Hi guys,

I'm currently compiling all my info about CFers and pregnancy. I fall into that rare cepacia positive slot-rare being that there's not alot of info documented about cepacia positive women and their pregnancies.

So I figured I'd go right to ground level and ask all of you-are there any cepacia positive moms out there? Obviously I'm talking about being positive when you were pregnant and giving birth. Or, if you personally don't have cepacia, do you know any moms who do?

I want all the pleasant and unpleasant details if you don't mind-I really need to talk to someone! If you don't want to share your info for all to see, please personal message me. I really appreciate anyone's help here!

Scarlett:

The person I would ask about that would be HollyCatherine. She has a site that has some info on the cepacia bug and pregnancy. Maybe she knows some info that is not on her site. If you find any of Julies replies there is the link to her site at the bottom of all her replies. There is a link to Catherine's site on Julies site. There is probably and email address to her on the site. I honestly have not heard anything good about pregnancy with that bug. It is so unpredictable. But, my knowledge of it is limited. I hope someone knows some useful things to tell you. Best of Luck to You!

Thanks Johnna,

here's the link <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.geocities.com/murrensnaturemama/index.html">http://www.geocities.com/murrensnaturemama/index.html</a> She is the person I would recommend as well. I haven't heard of anyone else christian but I will keep my ears peeled for you. I imagine HC has been in touch with someone who's had cepacia.

Good luck!!

thanks for posting guys,

I did email holly catheryn-I hope to hear from her soon.

Jazzysmom-HAH! I am so not getting brave in my "old" young age! I am scared to death about all of this! But I'm trying to not think so much based on fear.

Maybe I'm wrong here-but it seems to me that-while cepacia is a legit problem-higher lung function is a huge indicator of how well you'll do. Sure not in all cases, but-to be honest of the cases I've read-(non-cepacia patients)-the moms that had serious problems during and after pregnancy had what I consider a low PFT to start with.

Listen I'd welcome any opinion here: I have a FVC of 95 and a FEV1 of 75 and FEV2(small airway) of 56. I have cepacia, which hasn't flared up in the recent years. I do preventative IV's 1-2 times a year. My last real exacerbation was 1.5 yrs ago. I have stayed at 125 lbs steady since I was 18-no weight issues here. The only "real" problem-freakin cepacia.

Now listen-you can give your opinion-don't think I'm gonna run out and get pregnant or tie my tubes depending on what someone here says. I just feel like hearing some other's perspectives.

Hi. I just joined this site. I am a CF mom. I am 41 years old and I have 4 kids. I have a 13 year old and triplets that are 10. The triplets will be 11 in Aug. I was pretty healthy when I had my kids. I don't have the bug your talking about. I have the common bug. I am doing ok. Having kids definitely takes away from the time you have to take care of yourself. I always put them first and when they get sick, I always seem to catch it. I know one thing though, I would not change having my kids in a million years. If your CF doctor tells you its ok to get pregnant, I would do it. I know how you are thinking and feeling about that for sure. God has been good to me and my family and like everyone else with CF, I take one day at a time.

SORRY FOR HIJACKING THE TOPIC!
