CARRIER TESTING

My sister and I have CF and our younger sister does not but she is a carrier, tested when she was young. She is getting married in three weeks and her soon to be husband needs to be tested to see if he is a carrier so they may prepare themselves. What is the name of the test he needs and who and what do we do to get this taken care of? Thank you so much,

Most states have a standard genetic screening through normal labs - but it only tests for a handful of the cf mutations so can easily miss one; that's what happened to me. The intended could go ahead and get the standard screening - just ask his Dr. to order a screening for CF and whatever other normal pregnancy planning things are in that suite. BUT, if it comes back negative for CF, he should ask for a full screening either from Ambry or Quest.
