Carriers cont.

I have read ALL the responses that I got on my new entry and I thank you all. The biggest problem I have had since"now" I can remember is breathing. My reproductive has not been affected and I think my digestive is doing pretty good, but my biggest problem is my breathing. I quit smoking for my son for many years after he was diagnosed, but sadly have one or two since he left us...you know the excuses...anyway, I am in the Army(17yrs) and have always struggled with my running(breathing). I also have been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. It took me a little time, but now I am wondering, if I have the gene to pass on and combine...how is it affecting my body, even in an abstract way. Did I understand one of the responses...having a child with CF definetly says I have the gene, but are there tests to show what it is doing to my body, or is it ALL in my head and I only get anxious when I get short of breath, because I know that is the way my son left us. Thank you all for your responses.

Have you ever had a sweat test? Or gene typing on yourself? I take it with 17 years in you are planning on retiring, If it was found that you were more than a carrier (I don't know all the specifics of your situation so please feel free to write back and inform me) and actually have CF, that would render you disabled and you would be discharged-medically, but still that wouldn't allow you to retire. There is also a chance that you are a syptomatic carrier, which I believe somebody else mentioned to you on your other post, but you could also have a fairly mild case of CF. I would look into it if it is really effecting you, and it seems that way.
