Hi to all reading this. I hope you can help. I am a 28 year old cfer and I have acne. I hate it, I feel like a teenager. It's mostly on my chin which is usually diet related and I was wondering if it had to do with my cf. I have only had it since I was about 20 or 21 I never had it as a teen. I have tried proactiv and many other topical products and I thought the one I am using now was working until about a week ago and I got 4 or 5 new spots. Any advice on treatment, or is it cf related. I have been to a dermatologist in the past and what she gave me didn't really help either.

I hardly had acne as a teen. Since being an adult & more so the last 5 years or so with my CF progression my acne has gotten horrendous.

I am not 100% sure how much is nutrion versus infection or even dehydration or low 02. I do know that even when on iv's it took a long time at certain times for my skin to clear up.

I have been having mild break outs for weeks now with no real amount of time that it stays clear!

Hello, I can totally relate to acne. In my teens I had acne and eventually it cleared up as I had gotten older into my twenties, in 03 the doc put me on about 4 antibiotics and dropped all but one bactrim in 04. He kept me on bactrim for 4 yrs and November of 08 he told me to finish my bottle and not take it any more, yay I thought but Id say the last month for sure, has been acne horror on my face. Im still dealing with it on my face and now on my chest and now my back. I go back on April 2nd and I will ask the doc about diferingel and see if that will clear this stuff up.
I really think the bactrim helped keep the acne away though, I would still get acne back then just not a lot of it NOT like how I have it now. I have been using clearsal the wipes and gel to put on my face, I was doing this every day but feel its not doing anything so I just apply when my face is oily or when I cant stop touching my face.

Not sure if I helped any but thats my story.

I never had acne as a kid but when I was about 22 I started getting it pretty badly. It seems to correlate to when I'm having a bacterial exacerbation. Antibiotics don't always clear it up though and I typically keep a tube of Differin around. You should know that Differin is great stuff but it's not an overnight cure. In my worst cases it took more than a month to clear totally.
