Are you taking (1) Creon 24 with every meal, or does that (1) stand for something?
I'm also on Creon 24, but then again I have weight issues on the other end of the spectrum.... I believe every enzyme is more or less the same where you take 2-3 w/snacks and 4-5 w/meals. So if you're only taking 1.... yeah...

One Creon is a VERY CONSERVATIVE dose. You need to discuss this with your CF DOCTOR AT THE CF CENTER.

I also take creon 24. I take 4 with meals and 3 with snacks. I am currently having the same issue. have you tried eating more times a day but smaller meals? I know, kind of hard when you have "CFRD".

I think you don't take enough enzymes but I don't know your medical history but that seems like a really low amount. I take anywhere from 7-10 when I eat...

Hi,

I have CF and CFRD as well I weigh 115. I take Creon also but 4 with meals 3 with snacks. As everyone else stated, 1 per meal is a very low dose. Everything below is from my experience and opinion:

With diabetes in general, if your blood sugars run high and are uncontrolled you will lose weight. Couple this with CF and it compounds the problem. You didn't mention the severity of your diabetes and whether your control of it is good. To gain weight one needs to be in good health usually, i.e. no exacerbation, diabetes under control, making sure you are taking an adequate amount of medication. Non-carby fats (EVERYONE needs carbs though!!) are best for CF and CFRD weight gain; like cheese, meat, nuts, good fats, fish etc.. However these are not well digested in CF patients and having the amount of Creon that will work for you could alleviate this, if that is the problem.

Personally I would try to eat several smaller meals throughout the day with a good mix of healthy fats and carbs and also check on your level of Creon with your doctor. Working out also helps increase appetite, health, and weight in most people.

Hope this helps.
Whoops I totally forgot some important information. For me gaining weight has ALWAYS been easier in Ultrase (but I believe it still doesnt have FDA approval). I switched to Creon when they pulled Ultrase and I REALLY disliked Creon. Now I am on Zenpep and it works better than Creon but not as well as Ultrase. Perhaps if the Creon doesnt suit you, a different enzyme may help as well.
