CF and Rehab

Have any of you had any experience with getting a CFer into rehab? My sister DarceyMaysey (she said it's okay to say her name) is currently in the hospital and wants to go straight from there into rehab for alcohol and pain meds. The problem is that she is having trouble finding a rehab that can deal with her medical needs. Some are having problems with her lortabs, others are having trouble with the fact that she would need to leave the rehab for a morning outpatient endometriosis procedure in 3 weeks. She's not on IVs, but of course has nebs, enzymes, inhalers, etc.

So, my question is: Have any of you come across any similar problems? If so, what did you do? Are there rehabs that specialize in people with special medical needs? Of course, she would like to stay as close to Oklahoma City as possible, but she's willing to travel if it means she can get in soon. She doesn't want to go back to her "real life" until she gets everything under control. Thanks for your help!

Hi Darby,
I thought this was about Pulmo. Rehab when I first saw it. I really don't have any answers for you but I'm thinking, what if you call a local counselor or drug/alcohol program and see what they say. They might be able to give you a lead on something.

Sounds like you are facing a lot of stress. I hope things improve for your sister!

I know this is a tough situation, In the emergency room when someone presents to the ER for Rehab treatment it is tough to get someone in if they are still wanting to take pain medications.

If she is needing rehab for Pain Meds and alcohol they are going to frown upon her taking Loratab since it is a pain medication.

I can't see her needing to do nebs and enzymes as a problem since every rehab has to have a nurse on staff and a medical doctor overseeing things...

The biggest problem like I said is the Loratab... and with her pending surgery, which I have had myself, it is a sticky situation because is she going to be three weeks into rehab, have surgery and then get pain medication in her system again after surgery?

I guess I don't really have any good answers, sorry. I hope everything works out well for her and I commend her for trying to get her life back on track... With determination anything is possible.....

Let us know how it turns out,

Jennifer

Darby, since I'm here in OKC, I'm going to make some calls, and see what I can come up with. I heard of a rehab here a while back that allows for special needs. They even allow mothers to bring children in, so they can continue their relationship. I can't think of it now, but I'll search the local news station web sites, because I think it was there that I read the story. I will let you know what I find out. If your sis needs a friendly visit, just let me know, and I'll be happy to go see her.
