Does anyone have any preference between the CF center at CHOP or St Christoper in Philly? My doctor says that they normally send to one of them, but has to get back to me about which one, and i was just trying to see if anyone has had any experiences with either one of them?

Hi - We live just over the bridge in south jersey. I take my 9 year old to AI Dupont. We have been pleased with the cf clinic as well as all other departments and hospital for 8 years. The longest we have had to wait in the waiting room for clinic is 5 minutes; we do sometimes have to wait in the actual exam room. No complaints at all. We are in the middle - location wise to CHOP and Dupont. Good Luck.

They are caring, offer so many services and are aggressive at fighting the disease. Also, for in patient visits, the hospital is so nice, very up to date. My stays there were the best and most comfortable of all the hospitals I've stayed in.
Dr. Schidlow is the head of the cf team there and the hospital as well I believe. He is great-he actually came to my wedding when I got married!
The other doctor in the group I've had experience with is Laurie Varlotta and she is great too.

Hi, we used to go to chop ( about 7 yrs ) We just moved to AIDUPONT and the difference is unbelievable. We now love our visits and we do not spend hours at the hospital. chop is a good clinic but over the years they have just gotten so big.They also seem to be stuck in the same place and if they do not believe in the treatment then you do not try it. Dupont is much more into doing what works for the child even if it is waaay different. The other good thing is my son does not have to wear the mask at clinic visits ( so great and does not make them stand out like sore thumbs) They have seperate times and facilities for cepacia.
I do not miss the drive there and with the south street bridge closing soon it will be worse. The other thing is parking at dupont is free.

We all have different needs from a clinic and it is like picking a primary doc you know if you will feel comfortable with them.
