CF Clinic setups

Just curious how everyone's CF clinics operate. We go to the Adult CF Clinic at Indianapolis University (I'm guessing there are about 70 adult patients). I believe there are 2 pulmonologists, who have clinic each Monday. A nurse practitioner is the Coordinator for the clinic (she is awesome) and she holds clinic Monday & Thursday. She is also available by phone or email everyday and is great at responding. If you are hospitalized, the pulmonologist "on call" is the one who sees you. In our case, we are also seen by the infectious disease dr. in the hospital. The clinic also has a pt, rt, pharmacist, nutritionist/dietician and social worker (I think that's everyone) at our disposal. Because we deal with cepacia, we see our np every 2 months, and do spiros before we see her. I think we've only seen our dr. 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years, because we are happy with the way our np coordinates our care. Is that how it works at other clinics? Thanks.

I go to a childrens hopital. You check in and are weighed by the nurse, take your sats and give your samples(<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">) then you go and wait in the open foyer. Then you do pfts and meet the dietition and then the physio. Then you get called in to see the doc (usually the registrar) and then you meet the proper doc. Usually the cf nurses are hanging around so you can chat to them ....Shamrock, x

I've wondered how the other clinics work. My boys go to a childrens hospital and it is great. They do the team thing everytime we go they see one or both Cf doctors the dietician rt soc worker rnp and a nurse. We have all of thier cards with direct line numbers on it. They really are great. It is a Pulm/ID clinic. We almost never see other people in the waiting room. Only if they are coming in or going out. When they are in the hospital everyone from the clinic comes up to see them. The hospital has a floor for that clinic so the doctors are always up there. Never seen any other dr while my boys were in the hospital inless for a consult for another prob.
