Hi I am new to this I read alot of things on it but have never written. My granddaughter who is a yeal old has CF she was born with it she is doing good right now most of her problems are with the digestive system but anyway the reason that I am writing is our family has been involved with the great strides walk which was held in Novi,MI last year and my daughter had mentioned moving it to a new location in the Downriver area to a nice park in Taylor,MI and from what we know at this point it is becoming an option and I was jsut wondering if anyone is from the lower part of Michigan that might be interested in moving their walk teams to the new location.

Hey there! I am from Downriver. I used to live on Grosse Ile, then downtown Detroit and now I am back in Trenton. I had a Great Strides walk on Grosse Ile for about 3 years. It started out strong and then completely failed. Now I work on the Sterling Heights committee...we have made it the biggest walk in Metro Detroit; $75,000 (next to Toledo of course). What park are you thinking about in Taylor? I know from the past a lot of events downriver don't do as well as events on the other side of town, that just comes from previous experience.
Let me know, I work really closely with the Metro CF center and am curious if they are going to add another walk. It might be a good move because there is nothing for CF down there and we need to spread awareness on this side of town too.

If it goes as planned it will be at Heritage PArk which is probably the biggest aprk around here. We'll keep you informed my daughter is meeting the CF chapter at the park on the 17th to see what they think. The only problem we may run into is they have the relay for life walk there as well around the same time. Its just an option that we are looking into nothing definate yet. I will let you know when we get more info. We will also be holding our bowling event in Oct. I'll post about that too. The word has to get out there.

We jsut returned from a meeting with the lady from CF and it a go we will be doing a walk Downriver at HEritage park in TAylor. You had mentioned that you help out at Streling Heights if you have any ideas or maybe like to join us at the new location we would be glad to have any input that you have we are completely new to this and could use all the help we can get with forming some teams and getting some sponsors and any other help you might have to offer.
