CF Pregnant Women

Just curious about everyone's fev1 at the time you decided to get pregnant, and then what it went down to after birth. Can we make a running list, please?

The other pregnant threads just got me thinking is all. I'm not in the market to start or anything, but I'm curious how everyone's lung function was before and after. I also know it can be so different for everyone, so I thought it'd be good to see a list.

Thanks.

I cant answer this without contacting my doctor. I hadnt been to the doctor for a few years prior to me getting pregnant!

I think that I was about 52 or so. I actually got up to 56 while pregnant and then had torn ligaments from my rib and the ability to not breath I got down into the teens, about 18. I am currently at 48 but have been as high as 54 since having my baby.

I'm not exactly sure what mine was prior to having my son, as I wasn't a frequent clinic goer at that time, but I would guess lower 80s upper 70s, as it has been in the mid to upper 70s since he was born - almost seven years ago. At my last clinic visit in May, I was at 74 with this baby, so still no real change (knock on wood!)

I am at 75 now-and I have held it for 6 months. I wanted to test myself to see if I could hold that for a while before trying. So now that I have-I'm going to start trying to conceive.

Three pregnancies, no change in  Fev 1 levels.  They were
around 65-70. My pregnancies all occurred after I had a left upper
lobectomy (1977) but before I had my complete left pneumonectomy
(1999).

Hi Janet, what is a lobectomy and a pneumonectomy?

Kelly, a lobectomy is when you have a lobe removed.  We have
two lobes in our left lung and three in our right.  I had my
left upper lobe removed when I was 19 then had the left lower lobe
removed when I was 40.  A pneumonectomy is a complete lung
removal. Having had the rest of the left lung removed they
now call that a complete pneumonectomy.  I am so much
healthier without that lung which was leading to chronic bouts of
hemoptysis. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><br>
