Cf & school... 504, public, charter, private...???

My daughter is 7 w/CF, I just removed my little social butterfly from 2nd grade because the public school wasn't delivering meds right and refused to change procedure. I am homeschooling now, but amconsidering a college prep charter school. If I go this route, what should be in a CFer's 504 plan?
What have you done with your CFer?

We pretty much used Lisa Greene's letter to teachers as well as the other literature on her website. The school used the letter to teachers as the basis for DS' 504 plan. Originally we were told he didn't need one, but with the enzyme issue and no school nurses on site they changed their minds. He has an IEP as well, but that is for speech and OT (handwriting) issues and not really cf related.

I pulled my son out of public school in the middle of third grade. His nurse was crazy....seriously! He missed a few weeks, due to cf, and started to get behind in math. The staff was not understanding and was not willing to work with me. His school was a charter school and so it wasn't subject to the same rules as a normal public school...there were no homebound teachers or after school tutoring. We started homeschooling and it has been a blessing! He is much more social and happier now. There are so many activities, co-ops, sports, etc...available for homeschoolers. He is even in a boy scout troop for homeschool kids!

I haven't decided when to put him back into regular school, if ever. If I do, I will do everything I can to ensure his 504 plan is solid and strict. If they are unwilling to be flexible, I will look elsewhere! I have to say that my son's first school, before I moved to the charter school, was amazing and treated him like a king....there are plenty of awesome teachers, nurses, and staff out there! Our CFers deserve the best<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
