Johnboy,
I'm not sure what reason you and your wife would need to be tested for at this point. You are both obviously carriers of a CF gene. Generally CF testing in parents is for the purpose of determining if you're carriers prior to conceiving.

If you and your wife choose to conceive again, you would have a 25% chance that your next child(ren) would have CF as well.

Congratulations on your new baby!!

If me and my wife had a child with cf should we go and be tested

The hell..
That's not even a question.

Are you either..
Planning to have a child and want to test beforehand if you are carriers?
Expecting one and want to have the baby tested before it is born?
Had a child with CF in the past (??) and want to be tested..for what?
Currently have a child with CF and want to be tested..for something.

I am so sorry for your loss and I understood your question perfectly. I think that is a personal preference. I have thought about it several times, but in the end I don't think I nor my husband have enough symptoms that I would want to put out the $ to know for sure....if that makes sense, because I believe that my husband and I are simply carriers. However if it is weighing heavy on your mind and you would like to know there is no harm besides $ in finding out. :) God Bless and please if you have more questions feel free to ask.

To others responses: A question is a question. There is no need to be sarcastic and rude. If you personally think this post was a "stupid" question then why bother answering with your attitude. What good does it do for anyone here? Are you proud of yourself for being the one with the most common sense?

Thank you Blue and JENNYC for respectful posts.

To Johnboy- I'm sorry for your loss. hugs to you (L)

I couldn't agree more Amber!! My mom always taught me that if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all! There is no such thing as a dumb question!! There are only people here looking for answers....real answers from the heart.
