Hello everyone, I am new to these boards.

I am a 22 year old male with mild cf and I was wondering if anyone knows any cf man who has had biological children. How much did MESA cost and IVF/ICSI cost?

If any question screams "JULIE!" it's this one. One of the regular posters here has a wonderful website, and I'm sure she'll be able to answer your questions much better than I would.

Thanks Miesl,

The costs very greatly depending on what state you live. I live in WA state, seattle area. Our IVF with sperm retrieval, work up costs and EVERYTHING cost a little over $11,500 with our insurance paying nothing. A MESA sperm retrieval can cost anywhere from $1000-3500. We opted for a non surgical method, with a urologist on call for a surgical if necessary. My husband did a non surgical sperm aspiration with a needle. THey usually only stick you once, but he got stuck 5 times because they were having trouble finding sperm.

Some states (more on the east cost) I have seen costs as low as $3500 for a cycle at a reputable clinic with good success rates. The location is really the important part.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I am happy to answer them!

No seriously. I know we don't expell actual sperm due to our vasdifrens not being present, (trying to ask it as pleasant as possible) but has anyone ever asked their physician about a CF guy getting real sexually excited over a period of several days and then trying to aspirate sperm? Like say go without "relieving yourself" for say 5 days, and maybe on the 4th and final day (or maybe on all the days if you can handle it), work yourself up sexually (say via masturbation) but don't come to "completion". Would that added level of sexual excitability over several days make more sperm present for them to work with? You would think it would help...

I know there is at least one CF man on this site that knocked up his wife naturally. I think his user name is just "S." They just had a baby girl recently, like within the last month or so. But he's the only one I know of offhand.

That was me at 3:37, I wasn't logged in.

I would recommend the best thing you do is find some reproductive centers around your house, that would be the best way to gather some rough estimate costs. You can also join some reproductive websites (chat sites similar to this one) at www.inciid.org, http://www3.fertilethoughts.com/forums/index.php. You do have to register to post on both of these sites, (they are free) but you can read them without being a member. Post that you live in Pennsylvania, the general area where you live and ask if tehre is anyone on the forums in your area, where do they go and what are the charges.

Good luck, let me know if you have any more questioins.
