I just wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes on our trip. We made it over the mountains and through Oregon about 4 hours before a major storm on Saturday the 17th that had all the main roads in Oregon closed for a few hours. It was clear as a whistle (I think I spent too much time around my mother, not sure where that saying came from ) when we went through it.
A little humor for you: The dogs did good but towards the last 2 hours of the drive, our rottie Krieger (cry-gur) started wining insanely, I thought he had to go potty, Mark thought he was bored and sick of the car (and we forgot his dose of kids benadryl). Mark and I got frustrated with eachother, stopped to get gas, I had to pee for the last three hours and this guy who looked as high as a kite at chevron told me, "I'm sorry, we close our bathrooms after dark because of drug deals going on in there". I said, "I am a paying customer filling up 2 cars at your station and I have been ON THE ROAD for the last 14 hours" he wouldn't budge so I flew out to the parking lot and told my parents to stop filling their car and Mark to stop filling ours. He thought I was over reacting, the dog wouldn't shut up, our deaf cat Zain tried to escape from the car my parents were driving, my dad started getting frustrated with my mom and I started looking for a bush... . But we made it to our house in one peice, and still speaking.
For the most part we are all unpacked and it's just a matter of setting up the computer and internet at home and organizing the garage so we can get at least one care in tehre. This house is a bit smaller than the one in CA so we are making adjustments. Like Mark's weights are going in the garage, he's not the least bit thrilled about that one, can't blame him though.
WA weather hasn't been bad at all, in the 50's and I think even the 60's one day. The first night there it was freezing, about 20 degrees at 2 am when one of the dogs had an accident in the house and we were unloading the uhaul trailer we brought with us to find the Natures Miracle cleaner and some rags, frozen ears, fingers and toes (go figure both of us wore sandals from CA to WA, not thinking that we MIGHT need shoes-silly us). Sometimes I think I have my hands full enough with our Zoo and don't need any children at all... sometimes.
Right now I am back in CA to check out of my command and fly back to WA on the 30th. I have 2 weeks off before I have to check in to my ship so I'll be seeing family and friends and awaiting news from INCIID to see if I am an IVF scholarship winner.
Thanks to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers, we really appreciate it! I hope that everyone had a wonderful christmas and that everyone has a happy new year!
