Just got mark's chest X ray results back,

<i>"there are hcanges representative of progressive chroinic cystic fibrosis, since most recent prior PA and Lateral chest of 7/18/06, whth evidence of diffuse bronchiectasis with fluid endobronchial stasis versus superimposed alveolar consolidative processes. There is no evidence of hilar, perihilar adenopathy or abnormal widening of the mediastinum. The cardiac silhouette is normal, without evidence of cor pulmonale. The osseous structures are intact.

IMPRESSION:
Severe progress changes compatible with known diagnosis of Cystic Fibrosis, bronchiectasis with viscus fluid plugging versus pulmonary superimposed alveolar consolidtions, since prior evaluation of 7/18/06"</i>

They look pretty bad to me, pretty darn bad compared to his last ones. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm so sorry to read this, Julie...

I've been gone for awhile. Is Mark having an exacerbation or just feeling crummy to be seeing these results? Or the general "progression" of CF? I know my chest x-rays generally show worsening even when I don't feel bad. Forgive me if you've already addressed this in a recent post. I haven't read through them.

Yes, the pain is gone. I guess it was only around mainly that one night and then the next day or two he was just sore (he said like a pulled muscle). But I have been pushing him to do a chest X ray, it's been since july since he's had one and he was suppose to have one in October. He also has a clinic visit next month, but doing the chest X rays there is a NIGHTMARE and we will have all 3 babies at the appt. with us too. So he came into my work today to do it (I work at a very small clinic, easy, 3 minute wait for an xray). His CF doc hasn't seen this yet, I'm going to fax it over on Monday.

He's feeling kind of sick he says, I think that's why he "agreed" to finally go in to the clinic and have his xray. THe babies were sleeping for about 12 hours, and we got about 7-8 hours of straight sleep, but after their 4mos shots, they have only been sleeping 7-8 hours, which means he only sleeps about 3-4 hours in a stretch (becuse we eat dinner AFTER they go to bed because of when I get off of work) and says he never feels recovered. I don't help at night on the week days because I'm still breastfeeding so if I get up, they leak (sorry TMI) and then I have to pump because they hurt, whereas if I stay in bed with them wrapped in the towel (don't sleep in a bra, TMI again <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">) I don't have to pump. And I get up to go to work and he still sleeps for another one to two hours, so if I were getting up, I'd only get 4-5 hours of sleep total.

So I think the lack of sleep, plus the winter (always does worse in the winter) are all compiling and making him feel crappy.

Sonia, you didn't miss anything I explained, no need to apologize. He had some chest pain one night after working out, knocked the wind out of himself kind of after weight lifting but he was sitting. We thought it might be someting with his lungs. Doesn't seem to show anything other than CF progression (no collapse or anything), andhe's just feeling generally crappy.

Thanks everyone

I wish mark the best. Pretty odd to see all that just from a chest X-ray. I have no idea how much Mark is into alternative/herbal self treatments/research regarding our disease, but it really does help. We all degrade, but i'm sure dealing with several toddlers all at once can't be a good thing for his overall health (though he achieved his goal of being a dad). The lack of sleep alone can compound small things into being big things, but that's the trade off for being a generally healthy CF male being able to have children. I know absolute jack about his baseline, but it's never too late to raise that baseline due to other avenues. Tell him I said get better.
