Someone was trying to get me to buy Mila, which is ground chia seed(like Chia pet). It is actually high in omegas and protein and lots of good stuff for CF. Anyone use it or know where to buy it online for less? Seemed very expensive for what it is. I could mix it in oatmeal for my daughter and make smoothies for my son with it.

Thanks

Chia is pretty expensive everywhere. Some health food stores carry it in bulk and you can save some that way. For omega's and protein you could also use flaxmeal. It's a lot cheaper and tastes great in oatmeal and smoothies.

I was just doing research on Omega 3's and ran across chia seed also. What I found is that the thing that helps with inflammation and other health stuff is the DHA and EPA that is metabolized from ALA. With Chia seed, you get the ALA and that can be difficult for the body to metabolize down to the DHA and EPA. So if you are trying to get the DHA and EPA out of a product, it seems through my research, it is best to find it in other forms.

Here is the info I recently found on Omegas

I did find some CHia seed in our health food store. I have been throwing it into our baked goods, cereal, not in huge amount and it's probably more for my own health benefit, my husband's cholesterol has come back really high so we need to make healthy changes to our diet; adding flax is a good idea too. We are going to cut down on our red meat consumption and eat more fish, fortunately our kids will eat fish. I think these past couple years; my husband has been on the CF diet with Maggie and it's doing him no good<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
