chronic fatigue

I'm constantly fatigued. Ever since I was, I don't know, 18 or so, I've been constantly deprived of energy. There has only been a few instances where I've had an abundance of energy like I used to when I was younger.

I find myself constantly trying to save energy. For example, and this is rather personal and may disgust some people; urinating in bottles at night and emptying them later. I guess I got into the habit of urinating in bottles by being in the hospital so often and getting used to having a urinal at my bedside for whenever nature called.

Another thing is that I constantly lean on things. Whether it be the island in my kitchen when I'm cooking, leaning on the sink when washing dishes, leaning on a shopping cart.

I do all of this because I don't have any energy most of the time and I don't like the feeling that comes with over exertion. I assume this happens to most people with CF but I've never met anyone with it besides my sister and she's not here anymore. She never complained about this to me, but she wasn't the type of person to complain about this kind of thing.

Is this somewhat the norm for people with CF?

I know when I'm sick I'm always exhausted but even when I'm feeling good I still nap frequently and like you said I always lean on things. I can't walk through a store anymore without a cart to lean on and there are days where I know I have stuff to do but I just don't have the energy. Sorry I can't help with any solutions but you definitely aren't alone.

Have you ever got tested for CFRD? That could make you tired.

Hope you find some answers!

Yes I've been tested for CFRD. My blood sugars do fluctuate somewhat but I'm not diabetic (yet... knock on wood).
