My baby boy is on a three week course of Cipro. we are into day five and i was warned that it could give him the runs. and with the runs comes the diaper rash. well it did, and it has taken on a life of its own. its terrible hes pooping four or five times a day, actually its the runs, and his bottom is sooo red, its shinny. thank god its not bleeding though, so im layering on the desitin like im iceing a cake every time i change him. which is my own personal nightmare cause hes screaming and kicking and crying. i only use wet paper towels to wipe him and that still hurts him. i did start giving him tablets recommended by CF doc called Lactinex and im hoping that controls the runs ASAP. im hoping here if anyone out there has gone thru this please, please if you have any suggestions that could help i would so appreciate it. thanks

maybe also try yogurt to eat & im assuming lactinex is a probiotic if not then try those also, they can come in capsules so you can sprinkle them on applesauce just like enzymes.

they make this stuff that you can buy at walmart behind the counter that some people put on feeding tube sites for raw skin that is great, i used that on my little one for sever diaper rashes from abx. it's in a green & white tube, sorry but i can't think of the name of it. it kinda looks like putty thought. maybe also try oatmeal baths inbetween diaper changes if you have the time or airing out.

i'm sorry that your little one is going through this. it is so hard on them at this age. i will keep him in my thoughts.

there is also a prescription cream we've used for diaper rash caused by yeast infections. Lili often gets a rash with too much antibiotic use and the cream takes care of it well. We also use probiotics on a daily basis to help control yeast and keep the gut healthy.
