Cipro Side Effect??

Three days ago I started taking oral Cipro (500mg twice a day) for the first time. Last night I spent the entire night tossing and turning with pain in the joint of my big toe and the arch of my right foot. It was an achy pain, and didn't change when moving my foot/toes/etc.

When I finally did fall asleep for two hours or so, I had horrible nightmares.

Are these side effects of Cipro? Should I stop taking it? Has anyone experienced anything similar? I read that Cipro can cause serious joint and tendon problems, but I'm not sure if that's what I'm experiencing.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

My son who is 13 has never had any adverse side effects from cipro. That said everyone is different and cipro can make you more susceptible to tendon rupture. Medications effect everyone differently as well. I would let your MD know this has been happening. Also has the pain continued or just this one time? If it has continued let your MD know right away.

I am allergic to Cipro.... if I remember correctly it was severe stomach issues and a horrible rash. I usually had nightmares with Clindymycin.

I would check with your doctor... better safe than sorry.
