Clean linens?

Our daughter's CF doctor stresses the use of clean linens. Okay, folks, obviously we clean our linens, but he stressed it so much that it makes me think that what you sleep upon is tied to pseudomonas and other "bugs" more than anything. He didn't actually say that, but he has said more than once to maintain clean linens and don't buy expensive bedding. I'm assuming the higher thread count may harbor more bacteria? He also recommended no drapes and to minimize carpet, if possible. Have you heard the same?

Well, maybe he is thinking of your animals? Please don´t misunderstand, I love animals and owned dogs and cats and rabitts and much more, but: not in the bed, no face licking, no babies playing on the same carpet with the animals (think of what they put their nose in when outside, licking their fur and more<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">).

Maybe he also thinks of a possible allergy to house dust mites?

I think he might be thinking more along the lines of allergens. Alot of people with cf also have allergies.
That is what happened with DD. No carpet and nix naxs in her room. Her bedding is washed every week and the pillows are tossed in the dryer on high. It kills the dust mites.
No stuffed animals etc. I hope this helps.

Yes, cheryl is right. Mold is a huge problem with stuffed animals and pillows, as are dust mites. yuck.

I've also heard that putting the animals in the freezer overnight helps kill the mites.
