Hi there,

I had a CF appt yesterday and all went well.

PFT's were the same as always. I really thought they'd be lower because I am feeling more SOB now. Although the doctor says my lower lobes need a little work because he heard stuff in there (which I usually am clear). He says it's because the baby is pushing up on things. So I'll have to work on that.

My weight appears to be the same as it was a week or two ago, but no one seems to be too concerned about my lack of weight gain. I want to try to get up another 5-10 lbs before the baby is born, but it's not happening very easily.

For those that have had babies before...how much weight did you lose after the baby was born? I'm assuming I'll lose about 25 lbs with the BFing, so I really want to get up there with my weight a little more.

So all is well and I can't believe I only have 6 weeks left! And I still have so much to get ready before the baby comes!

you might lose weight with breastfeeding - a lot of women do - but some don't. A lot of it depends on your intake. I lost all my baby weight wiht both kids almost immediately. I gained 20 and 25 lbs when pregnant. My son was only nursed for two months, so I can't say about weight loss with him - with my daughter, after a year of nursing I was bordering on an unhealthy weight (103 lbs) BUT, I went on my first ever IVS in Feb and have since gaine all of it back adn then some - and we are still breastfeeding 3-5 times a day(I am now at about 120 - I prefer to be 110) so whereas I thought the weight loss was BF related, I now think it was actually Cf related. So....I would definitely try to put some on now, but pay attentiont o your overall health after the baby comes so you have a good gage of what is going on. If you need any help with the breastfeeding, I am happy ot do what I can from online! take care, won't be long now!

Leah! You are so close! Your baby will be in your arms soon!
With both pregnancies I lost the weight I gained right away. Both times I gain 20-25 pounds and lost that within the first 2 two weeks. I breastfed Alexa for the first year but she did get a lot of pumped bottles since I had so much frozen milk from her NICU stay. During that year, I stayed 112 pounds the entire time. Once she weaned I went back to my normal weight of 115. I was 118 right before I got pg with Hannah. At last check I was 114 and still exclusively breastfeeding at 3 months pp.

Leah - glad you're health is stable! Sorry for the SOB - I know how you feel. Like you I'm having trouble gaining weight. I'm stuck at 11/12 lbs. Last week I hadn't gained any weight since my appointment 2 weeks prior. I'm just having a hard time eating. With the heat, asthma, baby taking up space and now horrible air I just don't have a huge appetite. But I'm trying! I fell off the wagon yesterday due to that stomach thing but I'm climbing back on today.

As for losing weight after baby - I was down about 25-30 lbs within a week or 2. I think my lowest weight while beastfeeding was about 118 lbs (I'm 5'5 and normally weigh around 130-135) but I didn't mind being that weight. Once he was around a year old I put on a few lbs and it wasn't till he was older that I had to start watching what I ate again. I know you're only planning to bf 6 weeks (though you may be surprised how much you may enjoy it and not want to give it up) so just focus on eating enough while you're exclusively bfing. But you won't have a little person pushing up on your stomach at that point. I had a HUGE appetite when Logan was a baby. I ate like there was no tomorrow.
