OK I don't mean for this to sound ridiculous but how do parents dress their cf kids? Mine is 4 yrs old and up until now we dressed in the toddler section which is pretty loose and makes room for diapers. Now she is getting a bit bigger (belly mostly) and I can't get anything to fit her for the summer. She is fairly short for her age and of course has the belly (I joke and say it looks like she has been out drinking with the boys). In the past I got away with buying capri's and they fit her in the length perfectly. Now in the girls section they no longer make room for the diaper and everything is slim fitting. I am so frustrated. What I'm saying is that if I want the pants to fit then I have to buy a size 6 for a kid who is a size 3-4 and hem the pants (lose the style). In t-shirts forget it. Everything is so tight so I went to a bigger size (again a size 6) but then she looks like she is wearing a dress. HELP! I am not a sewer but I think I may have to go and take courses (and pull out my sewing machine I haven't used in 10 years).I imagine some of you are laughing by now but I just don't know what to do. I am dreading shopping for shorts this summer. Thanks for letting me vent<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Don't think you're alone! I have a tough time finding clothes, we all do. Get things with drawstrings and elastic in the waist so that they can streatch out when she gets bloated. Debbie 23 w/ CF

Can you get her summer dresses for the summer... like overalls, but a dress with a little T-shirt under or nothing at all. My mom had trouble with this too (except i was out of diapers earlier). The belly is a BIG problem, and i hate to say it, bt probably always will be. Taking sewing classes would be SMART, because when she goes to school , she will want to look "cool" and like the other girls.Summer dresses are nice and airy though, so she wouldn't get hot in the summer. Or maybe if you are just at home get her a bathing suit (they stretch) and put a pair of shorts on the bottom. Elastic waists will be her life for a long time, or drawstring waistlines. I mostly wear draw strongs, cause my belly goes up and down so much. Hope this helpsJulie

I think no matter how you look at it, dressing a child is a difficult task. My daughter has just the opposite problem...and yet it is a big problem. She wears a 24 month in length, but a 6 month in waist. So needless to say, I take everything in on her.Just wanted you to know that all around it is a challenge...but it's one of the joys of creative parenting, right?Good luck.Christiemommy to 2yr old twins Malachi wocf and Mylee wcf

I grew up with the same problem. Small everywhere with a belly. My mother and grandmother starting making my clothes for me. Now that I'm older, I learned how to make my belly less bloated and I still make my own clothes (I'm 22 and still wear a size 12 in girls'). I learned what clothes make me look worse and which ones make me look a lot better.

When my daughter was young I thought overalls were the perfect solution--you can get them in all kinds of fabrics, roll up the hems, which is adorable on kids, and in the summer she had the shorts version and wore them with tank tops--very cute. Also, pants and shorts with a little elastic around the waist and tanks and tees for summer. She liked sundresses, too. Check the OLD NAVY website- the stuff is fun and very reasonable.
