Hi. We just had a clinic appt. with my daughter today (who is 3), and getting over a very nasty cold (not really sure what it is.. we were coughing up some blood clots with it).. but anyway, she was put on Cipro for amonth, and she has normal stools, and then diarehha(sp?).. blah blah.. so they told me to see if i can find some Flora biotic supplements and also Coenzyme q10.
Well i have found all i needed to know about both.. but i am not so sure where to buy from, since i am kinda skeptical about buying things over the internet i'm not familiar with (sites). I was wondering if could recommend some good Health food web sites? I also want to look into nutritional supplements as well, and it would be nice if i could do one big fat order from one place. Thanks so much!!!

Hi there. We have tried many of the 'pro-biotics' out there, none of them has worked as good as "Culturelle". Our clinic has Zoe on it during antibiotics and a week after. She takes 2 of the adult ones everyday. Last May she was in for a tune-up, on iv's, and contracted c-diff, she was on a different pro-biotic at that time. After that, her docs put her on the Culturelle everytime. She hasn't gotten a yeast infection or the c-diff back and she was just in for another tune-up in December. I buy mine at the pharmacy. Occasionally you can find it on sale, but it will run you around 18-20 for 30 caplets, which lasts us 2 weeks.

Good luck!

I researched and wrote an article about how to find quality supplements here http://www.cfnutrition4life.co...cle.php?article_id=133 Skip down to the Independent Laboratory section and you can find brands and resources which are of high quality and carry seals. Then you can simply find the least cost provider and know the quality is good.

Culturelle is at most large chain drug stores and works great. We doa daily probiotic, tumeric, and DHA to help with gut inflammation even when not on antibiotics. Jarrow is another good probiotic brand and has some kids chewables.

Cipro (all antibiotics in the fluoroquinolone class) is a very strong antibiotic and has a track record of some very damaging side effects (especially in children). Most reading I've seen says it should be an antibiotic of last resort because of its ability to damage tendons and connective tissues..there are safer antibiotics to try first and you can request these be used if she is having such strong reactions. We are choosing to avoid Cipro and Levofloxacin unless all others fail due to strong consumer pressure for the FDA to reconsider its safety rating.

For Marahsyn, we use http://www.swansonvitamins.com/ for probiotics. We had her dietician look at the one we give her which is for infants specfically and she said that one is wonderful. Probably one of the best that she had seen. It is named: Jarrow Formulas, Inc. Baby's Jarro-Dophilus. Hope this helps
