I would like to know if anyone with Cf is taking collodial silver? It's supposed to be good at killing bugs. My mate has CF and is thinking of going on it.

I've heard colloidial silver is good for killing bugs, too, but I know it's also toxic! The site Kylie posted is not an isolated case. Anyone who wants to take colloidial silver please be sure to talk to your doctor first, and learn how to take it as well. The way I understand, you are only supposed to use it as a mouthwash and never, ever swallow it. Though, even as a mouthwash, it can still be toxic if you do it too much!

Kristy, I'm glad it is working, but please be careful, okay? =-) I feel stupid saying that when I don't even know you, but it really can be very harmful! =-(

someone once tried to convince me to take it years ago. i did some research on it and refused. too many wild claims that it will cure this and that and the fact that it can give you argyria. being pale is bad enough, i dont want to be blue! ive noticed no one raves on about it anymore on tv etc. me wonders why? lol.

I did lots of research through the internet and books. Yes some can be toxic but it depends on the strength your using, and if its true silver or not. It can be very confusing. Here is a site i found very helpful. May help you make an informed desicsion if it right for you or not. www.silvermedicine.org I have a number of sites if you want more. Take care.

If it's not silver, then why take it?

Also. Looking at the EPA report, from your website even, (http://www.silvermedicine.org/safety.html), I would stay as far from this substance as possible. Look at the studies on the anti-bacterial effects, they are done in petri dishes, not in people.

Plus, looking at this statement...

Hepatic necrosis and ultrastructural changes of the liver have been induced by silver administration to vitamin E and/or selenium deficient rats (Wagner et al., 1975; Diplock et al., 1967; Bunyan et al., 1968). Investigators have hypothesized that this toxicity is related to a silver-induced selenium deficiency that inhibits the synthesis of the seleno-enzyme glutathione peroxidase. In animals supplemented with selenium and/or vitamin E, exposures of silver as high as 140 mg/kg/day (100 mg Ag/L drinking water) were well-tolerated (Bunyan et al., 1968).

Aren't PWCF selenium deficient? Also, don't PWCF have problems absorbing vitamin E? Aren't PWCF at risk for liver problems to begin with?

This tells me that PWCF sure as heck shouldn't mess with silver.

Also, they state There is accumulating evidence which strongly suggests... and then there is no evidence of this... evidence.

There are a number of other statements after this that are given with absolutely NO scientific basis. "We think" "we believe" - do you really want to risk liver problems and TURNING FREAKIN' GREY, over what some non-credible "scientist" supposes is true?

I sure as hell wouldn't.
