constantly clearing my throat

I finish IVs tonight. I've been on them for 13 days now. Anyways, I feel 1000 times better than I've felt in a while. In fact, this morning I didn't cough up anything while I was doing my vest. I don't ever remember that happening. My problem is though, I am constantly having to clear my throat. I don't know what the deal is. This has been going on for about a month and a half. I though the IVs would knock that out, but I guess not. Any idea what could be causing it?

Could just be post nasal drip, although when DS cultured Stenotrophomonas Maltophilia he had sort of a dry, throat clearing cough. Have you had a culture done recently. I seem to recall his steno malt was resistant to Cefta, but responded to Septra...

I wouldn't spend too much time dwelling on this. I feel I am at the apex of my health right now, and I still clear my throat a lot. I bring up phlegm when I clear my throat most of the time, but I think it is habitual. Most of us have been clearing our collective throats our entire lives, it's tremendously difficult to break old habits.

I think the IVs do in fact knock most of the phlegm out, but if it kept it from ever returning, being on IVs would practically be a cure. Our problem is we keep manufacturing mucous, so IVs are not a cure. I think the most we can do is to keep our lungs hydrated, so that the mucous does not have a chance to settle in any particular area, and hypertonic saline is excellent for this.
