CONSTIPATION PLEASE HELP!

okay so every time i take my pancreatic enzymes regularly i get really constipated and then stop them because i cant deal with it. i just started taking my enzymes 4 days ago and i have been constipated for 3 days!!! my doctors always change the dosage and the brand and it still does the SAME thing! any help? anyone with the same problem?!?! i really need relief! what can happen to me if i just don't take my enzymes? i just really can't deal with it for much longer my stomach feels like it's going to explode!

I haven't actually had that problem but I have been told by my docs that they have a lot of patients they prescribe Miralax to take on a daily basis to keep things running smoothly. Might be worth asking your docs about.

I agree-- it's best to take mirlax to help things moving.

Basically, you have two choices
1) take a test and see how pancratic suffient you are (do you have some function? do you NEED enzymes? not all CF people do)
2) if you do, you should take them to help absorb the food and be more healthy. If so, take mirlax or something else like that to help reduce the pain. Also, always take the vitamins.

There are some food that will help you absorb foods also, so you can look into that.

thank you guys so much but... well the thing is that i already take miralax two times a day, i just feel like im at a loss <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> but i will definitely ask my doctors about that test.

You may be more pancreatic-sufficient than you think. I went years of changing doses and brands before I had a 3-day stool sample and I found out that I did not need them. I haven't taken the in a long time (except with REALLY greasy food) and do not have issues anymore.
