Cops at my door

About an hour ago a detective and a police officer came to my house and asked me where I was on October 13th of last year. I replied that I don't even recall where I was last week, how am I supposed to remember where I was last year? He said that my fingerprints where discovered on a stolen vehicle, that was stripped and left in the woods somewhere. I said the only plausible explanation for that is that because I work on cars, I most likely worked on it prior to it being stolen. I told them the address and time and days I work, and they're going to check it out. They said if it doesn't check out they will come back and throw me in jail. That's absurd, from what I know, grand theft auto is like 5+ years in jail. All that I have done to maintain my good health will be flushed right down the toilet. I'm really heated, and stressed. I realize police officers have to exhaust all resources, but the only thing I have done wrong in the last decade or so is driving drunk, and I have learned and paid my dues. IMO it's ridiculous that law abiding citizens have to be subjected to this kinda stuff. I don't even know anyone that steals cars.

Are you serious?? This is crazy! My husband also used to work on cars for quite a while. He was a mechanic at a few different shops before he started working for a gas company. I would have flipped if cops showed up at the door accusing him of stealing a car because his prints were on it.

Shane if you have a reason to have prints in the car you'll never see them again.

However, since your prints showed up you needed a reason for them to be there. You have that so beyond that they are just blowing smoke.

Hopefully they have moved on.

On a case almost a year old, it looks like they are just filling in the blanks
to close out the file.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, and if something dose
come of it, You have truth on your side.

Don't sweat it.....
