My daughter who is 3 years old started with runny nose and husky throat almost 2 weeks ago, a couple of days she developed a slight cough, so we put her on her 'back-up' antibiotic. She finishes her 14 day course on Sunday evening. At the moment, she still has a bit of a cough though. Normally at the end of the course of her antibiotic, she has to do another cough swab. Anyways, I phoned up my daughter's Nurse this afternoon, and she said that it would be ok not to do one. I immediately thought why not? I told her this and she replied that if my daughter's last cough swab was clear, then there was no need to do another one. I told her that she had had a cold and cough since her last cough swab though. I really feel that the reason that she doesn't want to do a cough swab is because last time my daughter got quite distressed when she did it. At the end of the day though if she needs one doing, so be it. Then the Nurse said if you really want me to do one then I'll do one. Any suggestions? Am I being over anxious, or does my daughter need one doing? Hope this makes sense and sorry for waffling.
