Cough

Normally to bring stuff up I have to make my self cough either by exercise, PT, huffing or medications. Today, I am sitting at my desk and the stuff seems to be coming up by itselfs. I clear my throat and have to spit stuff out. It seems way to easy today. Anyone else ever have this happen? Does anyone know why?

To be honest, I don´t do much exercise and inhalations, but (and somehow because) I´m always coughing mucus up without that...

I"m the same as you steph - I don't cough when I'm not sick, not doing physio, not exercising, etc. Lately though I've been coughing once and awhile without having to do anything. I'm not sure what the cause is, but better out then in is what I say.

Wow Steph, same thing happening lately, I'm not much of a cougher but lately it's been clearing the throat or one little cough and a TON of mucus!!!!!!! I want to think it's a good thing and I'm just clearing stuff out but it makes me a little worried.

If it's a darker colour than usual it could be a sign of an infection, maybe get a culture done. I'm a constant cougher sooo jealous of all you none coughers out there!

I think Hypertonic Saline does cause some of it but then I stop and it still goes on. Then I end up coughing up blood and having fevers all weekend!

I too usually only cough when I'm sick with a cold, and even then they're not that productive.

My pseudo has been more abundant, and lately my coughs or simple throat clearings have been lots more productive. I think it's mainly due to my sinuses settling into the back of my throat. I usually have a spring allergy-like flareup. Possibly could be similar for you.

I think the Hyp Saline made me worse too. It's good in the sense that I got stuff out. It definately clears out thick nasty gunk! But I noticed fevers too, bleeding-all sorts of weird stuff. I won't stop it -but I wish I had known that there would be new side-effects from it.

I'm constantly coughing...and constantly coughing stuff up as well, ut normally when I have an infection I cough even more so maybe it could be that? I sometimes wonder how much gunk my lungs can have in them because it seems like I'm coughing huge amounts up all the time!

I think I have some type of sinus thing going on. Today, I have no voice, my cough is like 10 times worse and I have a dizzy head feeling. I called the Doctor. Of course mine is not in today. So I will get the substitute Doctor who will have no idea what works for me. I had to laugh the new nurse asked if I thought I needed to be admitted. I know I have an upper respitory infection caused by either allergies or a sinus infection. I wanted to say give me some Bactrum or Augmentin and I will be fine by Friday. I just need a little boost. I think this is why I have been so tired and I was running a fever over the weekend.

It doesn't happen to me very often. I normally cough once in a while when some stuff clogs up my throat. Sometimes clearing my throat sort of clears that stuff up right away.

gsplover,
How old are you? This happens to me quite often but it didn't start until about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm guessing it's probably an age issue (I',m 40) or a lung dammage issue. These of course are just asssumptions just ask your doctor.

I used to cough a lot a more a couple years ago. I think since starting the zithromax I've coughed a lot less. However, I'm also trying to get much more up in the mornings which may keep me clear longer. I think if I jsut sped through my treatments then I would be coughing up junk all day. If I feel congested, I feel like crap, so I try to get it all out in the morning. When I do cough during the day it is almost always productive.

I swear it must be 150% humidity here today<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

if u get stuff out without exercising this means there is plenty of sputum in there which indicates an infection. Its just like the cockroach theory that states that if u see one in the light in your house it means you are harboring colonies. Anyways, my cough is always productive and it doesnt matter if i do my treatments or not. I just keep getting out stuff.
