coughing at night

Hello....

OK, so a few weeks ago I got off IV antibiotics. Well, the past couple of nights I woke up coughing. It starts as a dry cough and then I can get lots up if I keep coughing. So, what is with that? What does that mean? I never wake up coughing, so this is new to me. Does it mean something is brewing or just that I'm breaking stuff up and its a GOOD thing? Does this happen to anyone else? I don't feel sick enough to be on more meds, and have energy and eat and stuff.... I just have been coughing at night.... And, during the day I cough a bit more up than usual too... it doesn't seem very difficult to get it up like it was when I got off the IVs.

Any ideas? Anyone else have this happen occasionally?

Thanks!

I really don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing. It happens to me a lot. Do you sleep elevated, drink lots of fluids, and do lots of treatment?

I sleep on one pillow or my TMJ bothers me too much. I do drink a lot of water and do all my treatments every single day (can't remember the last time I've missed). I do albuterol and colistyn right now before bed with the vest, but that's nothing new. I do albuterol, pulmozyme and HS (HS every OTHER day) and colistyn when I'm on it every day during the daytime.

I also have been trying to get to the gym more now after not going for awhile. I go around dinnertime and cough a bit with that. Perhaps I'm just moving stuff around when I run and it gets loose at night? Who knows.

Thanks,

Better out then in I say. I cough sometimes during the night. It'll start as a dry unproductive cough, and then sometimes I will actually cough stuff up. You have to remember that while you're sleeping, junk in your lungs just sit. Maybe this is left over mucus from your last infection?

i cough late at night if i'm bad and don't wash my sheets every 7 days.

i have horrific dust mite allergies and they get bad and make me cough a ton if i'm breathing in dust mite feces all night long.

for me, if im coughing at night, it means post-nasal drip... and it sounds like the kind of cough your describing. maybe you should talk to your doctor about going back on the meds? also, sleeping either as straight up as possible can help, and sometimes, laying completley flat does too. if you use an albuteral inhaler try that too good luck!

Thank you for this information, Sakasuka
We can alway count on you to be brutally honest! YUCK!!
I think I'll change the sheets before I slip into bed tonight. Visions of mite feces going up my nose isn't very appealing.
