coughing

I know I have had lots of encouragement to do CPT. I have not started anything yet, there is no excuse but the lack of access to learning it. I asked when we were in the hospital for that last round of tests but was told no until our next appt. in late March, if needed at all.

Anyway, my question- Owen is still coughing a lot. He may have a version of the nasty cough lots of people around here have had where the cough lingers for several weeks but should I call the CF clinic, again, to let them know? He started this cough around February 5 and it is not getting better at all. He is still nebbing Albuterol three-four times a day and using symbicort twice a day.

Forgive me for having such a fear of contacting the doctor, it comes from years of getting no help and really not trusting anyone to help much...

Hi, Trust or no trust - call and ask -you don't have to do waht they tell you - but it's good to hear their opinion.
I didn't trust my daughter's cf doc for a long time - I used to double cheque her...Untill lately - I started to find a common language with her and I even started to like her <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">
CPT - there are publications online with on how to do it - maybe this would help you

So, I called the doctor's office at 12:00 and the care coordinator said he would have the nurse call with CT scan results and advice on the coughing. Well, they never called back. It's no wonder I don't trust any of the doctors anymore! I think I have a case of the PTSD that was mentioned on another thread. Grrrr. And now, the nurse at school called to say she thinks Owen is getting a cold, his nose is so stuffed up and my daughter has a fever. I hate thinking it will get worse before better. It seems like we are about to add more illness to what had not yet cleared up and that makes me nervous.
But, a friend of mine is married to a doctor and she is going to ask him to teach me CPT. Hope it helps!

I think it a good idea to find a good doctor for your children - maybe your friend can help.
I have a great child doctor in our local clinic - not cf - and she is great - and have a second back up near me to phone if needed. They usually do the same they would do at the cf center but are nicer and more homely - Joanna likes her doctor also!
CPT is done differenltly for different age groups- -so make sure its the right one. And maybry get in touch with a different cf clinic.

I called the on-call doctor last night, Owen is now on prednisone again. Hopefully it helps. I also watched the youtube videos and did CPT on Owen, it helped so much, he coughed lots of stuff up. Thanks so much for the help!
