Covering a accessed port

My 5-year old is starting her second round of IV antibiotics next week. During her first round last winter, her skin became really irritated as a result of the bandage that covered her port while it was accessed. We tried a number of different types of bandages to zero success. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone have any ideas how to protect against it?

My skin gets very irriated with the dressings that come with the typical kits. I often have to ask for opsite, it seems to be less irritating. Are they using skin prep under her dressing, it really seems to help prevent irritation. If skin prep isnt in the dressing change kit, I think you can buy it over the counter in larger pharmacy chains. Hope this helps and good luck!
