Creon is now making different strength enzymes?

Did any of you hear about that? The pharmacist that delivers our medicine called and said that Creon has discontinued the 5, 10 and 20 strength pancreatic enzymes. Now they're making strengths of 6, 12 and 24. She said she'll be shipping me the 24 strength enzymes and that the dosing will be adjusted. (I currently take 20 strength.) I'm thinking, hey this is great! More strength means less pills, right? Anyone take creon and heard about this? Or maybe it's something unique to each location..Grand Rapids, MI here. But creon is a company..so it must be a nation wide thing..

Our son takes Creon 5 and we just had them refilled and no one said anything. I would be interested to know about that. We live in WV, so we will probably be the last to know! lol

The one that gives you enzymes for the first three years. They now have a progam that's called SolvaryCares. They will now start billing our insurance co. for our sons enzymes. At least we got two years of free enzymes! I'm curious to see what our copays look like for the enzymes. They do offer a $50 rebate towards our monthly copays for the enzymes.

It's exciting to think if they make the enzymes stronger that could mean less enzymes.

The Creon formulation hasn't changed significantly; it's more a change in labeling. *If I understood correctly from how it was explained to me: All of the pancreatic enzymes have been going through the process of getting fda approval and during this process it was found that the Creon10, for example, actually contained 12,000 units rather than 10,000 units of active ingredient. Rather than change formulations to keep it as 5, 10 and 20, they changed it to 6, 12 and 24 to keep the formulation that they've had all along. (Minor alterations were made such as taking mineral oil out of the pill composition and changes were made in the appearance of the capsule.)
