One of my friends can always tell by my eyes. She said they look dazed or something. It is funny how some notice. I notice it because I get really withdrawn and moody. Don't feel like talking to anyone. Then I know as well as all the physical symptoms, I guess. HeeHee.

One person who can always tell is my stepmom, I guess cause she raised me and knows how I am when Im normal. She can even tell over the phone, for some reason. Sometimes she'll ask me "why are you breathing like that?" and I dont even notice a difference.

Yes, I can also tell when Kait is sick before she does. I can usually tell by her eyes, they seem to get dark and look a little sunken and the last time she was sick i noticed that her breathing was different, she seemed like she was out of breath a lot. It seemed as if it took alot of energy for her to just pull her hair in a pony. Her normal response to my questioning is " Mom i feel fine, nothing is wrong" but we make a trip to the clinic anyways.

Hi,
I think it is so interesting that many of us seem to notice a change in mood with irritiblility before we notice that we are not feeling well. I am the same way! I am cranky for a couple weeks before I finally put 2+2 together and realize I need some IV abx. Also, that others notice our breathing is different, or that our eyes are sunken etc. Do you think it is because we are constantly needing to be in a state of denial about how we are feeling just to get through the day? It is probably to our benefit that we are able to operate feeling the way we do, even on the good days. If we were always dwelling on how we feel, we would never get out of bed!

HI

I know sometimes I will think that I may just be having a bad day when I really am getting sick. I don't really pay attention to somethings until they really start to bother me. I know I should deal with my illnesses as soon as I recognize they are starting , but sometimes I get lazy and just dont want another med to take or to call the doctor again.....I wonder how many doctors think that people with CF are hypocondriacs? We are just looking out for our health...but sometimes I get that feeling from nurses when I have a medical complaint. Pretty much any doctor or nurse that is not a CF doc or nurse gives me that feeling. Is that strange?

My brother tends to sleep more than normal when he is due for a clean out. He goes in a lot more than I do. I knew I was due for my first clean out in probably 10 years when I got out of breath going up hills
