cystic fibrosis related diabetes? what triggers it?

hi i am alyssa 14 yrs old and have had cf since i was 1 or 2 i was
diagnosed with cystic fibrosis related diabetes 3 months ago and if
you could answer my question (topic name) it would help a kid out a
lot thank you

Anyone that has damage or problems with the pancrease is prone to diabetes. For CFers we automatically have involvement which often progresses over time which is why eventually many of us get CFRD. The pancrease regulates our natural insulin so if the pancrease is broken (so to speak) then the insulin cant be made &/or distributed properly causing CFRD. Hope this answers your ???
