Hey there every one!! Sorry that i havent posted in quite some time.. Weve been busy potty training and have gotten it mastered!! Ashton for the past 10 days has had a runny nose and deep nasty cough that he chokes on what he brings up sometimes.. I called our clinic on monday and they said to give them an update on wednesday. and i did which he wasent coughing non stop like he was on monday but he was still coughing and waking up at night with it. I emailed them yesterday then they said to wait until later today or friday and update them.. How long do you just consider it something viral?? I remember when he was first DX it was call at first sign of cough and he will be treated.. Is this cough just something im going to have to live with?? Hes eating ok and playing fine just a disgusting cough.. we are doing treatments 3-4 times a day 2 with the vest and 2 at daycare. In case my signature dosent show up he is 3!! Talk to everyone later.

2-20-09 update

Hi Christi --

Alyssa is in a similar place right now, waiting the cough out before starting on abx. They made it seem like they want to see if she can kick it on her own, hoping to avoid over use of abx. But the problem is that even if it starts out as a virus, the stuff they culture can grow in numbers quickly and turn a normal cold into something CF related.

I think you should keep in contact with your clinic and if he seems worse in any way call immediately. I'm doing the same. I sooo don't want this to become another in-patient stay for us. Keep us updated on how Ashton is doing, I hope he clears this quickly.

Both of my girls were coughing more than their normal last week. I called clinic on Friday, who didn't want to put them on anything as of yet. But by Tuesday, I couldn't take it anymore, nor could the girls. Both would be up at night coughing and then they were overly tired the next day for school. I called clinic, and just told them that I felt it was time to start something, and that is exactly what we did.

I do think that Kayla's was more a CF flare up b/c she didn't have any symptoms besides a cough. And I think Hannah's started off as a virus b/c she had a low grade fever for three days last week plus a stuffy nose-it just moved down into her chest.
