After a 2 hour glucose tolerance test confirming the diagnosis - we met with the endocrine team today and they are suggesting a pump for my son. I am a Type 1 diabetic. I am learning all the differences between that and cfrd. I was just wondering if anyone out there is on a pump and has any words of wisdom, suggested questions for us to ask, advice....?

No words of wisdom, suggestions or advice. Just wanted to say that I'm sorry, that sucks to add this to his CF routines.

Thanks - it most certainly does!!! They have enough to deal with; another choice they are not given.

Hi there! I was diagnosed 4 years ago with CFRD. I've been on the pump for a year- the three years before I did pen needles. I would certainly reccomend the pump for anyone- for both of you!- its a great tool that lets you control your sugars way better than the pens/needles. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

I am sorry to hear this as well. I have read over and over that CFRD doesn't typically show up until later in life. This suggests to me that some docs might shrug it off if a parent asks. So kudos to you and your care team that you caught it now. My other thought is that you might get more input by posting in the Adults section. All the best to you.
