Did I miss something?

After reading a post on this site, I went to see where a certain person lived & when I selected USER PROFILE, I got this weird screen that was similar to this:

<b>Lynda's User Profile (View Posts)
User is not Rated</b>

So then I checked others user profiles, such as my own, where I know info is posted and got the same message. Anyone else notice this??

They have blockked all profiles as part of the security changes. Just like you need to be logged in to post. Annonymous can only view now

Thank you Melissa....was there a post someplace that I should have been paying attention to that explained all of this? If you knew me, you would understand how I could have missed it--lol!

We have enabled some privacy features...for one the profiles are private now.

Anyone who wants to message the forums has to sign on...no more anonymous messages.

This was at your suggestion. People can still come to our sight and learn from the postings and sort through the messages, but if they want to ask a question or answer one or make a comment, they have to join or already be a member.

Bill and I serve this community and we are also the gatekeepers!

We are keeping in close contact with authorities to keep our site safe from spamming.

Thank you for all your patience and we look forward to many more years serving this community.

(It's our birthday too...10 years this month~)

We have much to celebrate....this is a beatiful community!

I understand more now, but if even when I'm logged in my profile still doesn't show up. Any ideas? Mine says "not yet rated' too. Just curious.

So this should be interesting to see if much of the personal bicker backer continues as heavily or not.

Actually, the "user is not rated" comment has been on many profiles for a while now. I'm not sure why, because I know in the past mine didn't ever say that (when my DH logged in he could see my profile), but I made sure my profile wasn't blocked either.

Just as an idea, maybe we should all go into our user profiles and make sure that they are visible to others???? Just an idea. If that's not the problem, maybe we should get ahold of bill and ask him if it's suppose to be this way or a glitch.


EDITED to add: YikES, I spoke too soon. Mine says that now too, and a few days ago it didn't. I'm going to check my settings and if all is well, I'll "report to mod" bill and see if he can't shed some light for us.

The profiles are not visible at this time!

LOL, I get it now. I was thinking it meant that the profiles are now private except to those loggd on (i.e. an anon person browsing could not view the profiles). I guess it was more of wishful thinking than anything. Although I don't understand the point of a profile if others can't view it (or at least why we have a profile Icon) I understand the point of it when one registers so the mods know but don't get the icon still there if we can't view it. I didn't realize the option to hide or make your profile visible had been removed.

I hope maybe they bring it back, but whatever happens happens.

i liked the profile option too. i liked it so i could see where peeps are from.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0"> most profiles i looked at were "not yet rated" i don't know what that was about<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
