Did you have a dog therapist? :)

Has anyone had a therapy dog come visit them while they were in recovery at the hospital from transplant?
Many hospitals have therapy dog programs. Did the hospital where you got transplanted allow therapy dogs to come visit?

I know transplant is much different than a regular pre-tx admission, so that's why I'm asking.

Thanks

Ok....Weird.

If this actually happens, I would've requested no animals in my room. I was very particular about the "air quality" in my room. This paranoia was exacerbated by the drugs <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Regardless of whether or not a hospital has a program like this i doubt they would allow this on a transplant floor. Immediately post transplant there are so many things you are adjusting too. I had animals and had no problem being around them once I got home from the hospital, but my docs didn't really want me touching our pets without gloves or something for like a month. I wore a mask around them as well for near a month.

I don't think animals are a danger if you ease into that slowly and take precautions but I doubt that would be something a team would see as necessary immediately post transplant.
