My daughter is away at college and needs to go on Tobi. As it is very difficult to sterilize anything in a dorm room, I am wondering if anyone has used disposable nebulizers with Tobi. I am concerned that it will get clogged and and also that it will be very slow. Any ideas?

It's not too hard to sterilize in a dorm room. Do you use a dishwasher or boil the nebs? I've always used dish soap with hot water, and that's perfectly feasible in a dorm setting. I guess it depends on what you do exactly. <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">
We have always boiled the nebulizers, but she does not have a sink (or a clean surface!) in her room. I guess she will figure it out, but I am nervous. She will ask about using disposables, but the Tobi web site seems to say "no." Do you use Tobi while away at college? Is there a secret to your success? I wonder if I can purchase a sterilizing device. AHHH, motherhood.

I don't use Tobi, but I do use Pulmozyme every day. There are a few "secrets to my success" haha. For one, even when I lived in a dorm, I had a private bathroom. Medically requested through the DRC (Disability Resource Center). So I could clean my nebs however I wanted whenever I wanted. Now I'm in a studio apartment (also because of the DRC) so it's even easier. However, even in a dorm room, if you're using something as simple as dish soap and hot water, it's possible to keep track of it. She just needs to use the floor bathroom, and then take the cup or bowl back to her room with her. I've always used dish soap and water, but a lot of people use a lot of different methods, so that may or may not allow her to go by what I've done in college. Haha. Obviously, my private bathroom and studio apartment made a big difference, but it's still do-able if she's using dish soap and hot water. <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

Thank you so much for your ideas. Although my daughter has a single, a private bathroom sounds like an excellent idea. I just went onto the CFF website and they suggest that nebulizers can be sterilized by putting them in water in the microwave for 5 minutes. Finally, a piece of equipment she actually has!
