For the past couple of weeks one of my little guys has been suffering from headaches. Now for the past few days he has also been getting dizzy spells. His pfts are at 49 right now, which actually isnt bad for him. Im wondering if it is a side effect to one of his meds not that any of them have changed in the last 5 months. Has anybody else had any experience with this? He hasnt had a fever but has been steadily loosing weight over the last few months and seems more tired than usual too. Any ideas?

Could be a med.....is he on anything new? It could also be dehydration, high/low blood sugars or CO2 getting too high. Is he lethargic? Shaky? Peeing a lot &/or drinking a lot?

Hes not drinking or peeing any more than normal. Hes not lethargic or shakey. The only difference in his meds is that his Ranitidine has gone up from 150mg a day to 300mg a day. He is also on tobramycin, pulmozyme, advair, ventolin, adek, creon 10, itraconazole, caltrate, cortef but he has been on all of these for a very long time. Could he build up a reaction to one of the meds?
Thanks

As soon as U told me the change in dosage of his Rantidine it put a flag up for me. I just started that with the same dose that he went up to & it caused me to get extremely constipated to the point of sweats, shaky & headaches. Is he pooping ok? As far a s build up of the other I would say no. WHen U say tobramiacin are U referring to tobra via IV or tobi thru the neb? If its Tobramiacin than I bet it is the cause!

He is taking tobramycine through a neb - 80mg twice daily. He is pooping fine - twice a day. He is complaining of feeling clammy alot, that started yesterday. His identicle twin brother is on the exact same meds and is doing fine.
Thanks

I shpuld have mentioned that he has been on the tobra since he was 2years old and he is now 11! May he need a break from it?

You may want to get his O2 Sats checked. I was having headaches this summer and it was from low O2. I am now on O2 24/7 and no more horrible headaches.

Sometimes when my O2 gets too low I get headaches and some dizzyness. The other time I felt that way with the clammyness etc. My kidney's were getting overloaded. I muddled around with it for a while and then it slammed me with sharp pains and a fever. I think my body was just finally saying "uncle" on the meds. They pulled me off a few things, and I made sure to be drinking a lot of water. No permanant damage done or resistance to drugs, just a little time out. Food for thought anyway.

Has your son been tested for CFRD? You might talk to your doctor about his symptoms as they sound like they could potentially be CFRD as well.

I agree on being tested for CF Related Diabetes (CFRD). Weight loss, sweatiness and shakiness all sound like symptoms of diabetes.

As I mentioned earlier in addition to the other options it could be sugars. High/low has affects on the body & bouncing between the two is rough. Like a yo yo!
