does anyone know if zicam is safe during pregnancy? i've got a little bit of a cough, nothing big or worrysome, but my nose is all stuffy and runny, and my throat is sore. it hurt really bad to swollow yesterday, so i know it's an improvement from yesterday. so i want to take something so it doesn't develop into anything. of course while i was in the shower i thought of zicam, and my sheet that the ob gave me with all the over the counter stuff i can take is in the car which my husband has. so i called the ob's office when i got out of the shower, but they were already closed <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">. so i was wondering if anyone knew. oh yeah and my right ear kinda hurts too. i've never had an ear infection so i would have no idea what that feels like (that just started today though). thanks for the input though!! i love this place!

I would wait till you could talk to your doctor. You could try calling your local pharmacy and asking the pharmacist. Just some FYI - if you do indeed have an ear infection it is almost guaranteed to be a viral infection (given you have a cold). Studies have shown that taking antibiotics doesn't help and you will feel better in the same amount of time as if you had taken them (since most ear infections are viral).

My guess is it would probably be OK, especially if you only used the nasal swabs, but you should call and ask: give the mg of zinc that each does is and how much you would be taking to your doc or pharmacist, as i am sure toomuch zinc wouldn't be a good idea.
