Does it normally take that long

My daughter has some symptoms of CF. I've discussed tem before. She had a negative newborn screening and a negative sweat test around 6 months. HOWEVER she still has several symptoms.

I am trying to get her into my CF clinic so that we can get a full genetic panel. Well they said that the soonest they can get her in is November. Of course the nurse said she would put me on the list for cancellations...but NOVEMBER!!!???

I've already been trying to do this for about 6 months now. I have a clinic appointment on the 6th so I am going to talk to my doctor then...but does it normally take this long? Is there anything else I can do?

Hi Jessica, our center definitely is much faster. My daughter was diagnosed on Dec. 15 two years ago and I called on Dec. 23 and asked for two of my sons to have the genetic test done and I was told to bring them in that day. I was floored, but very grateful, that they were so responsive. If you have a good relationship with one of the nurses in the office maybe they could help get you squeezed in. Sorry, I don't have a lot to offer, but good luck. Waiting is the worst.

Olivia's pediatrician can do the ambry testing!!! You should be able to pick up the packet from the CF clinic and then your pediatrician can get the insurance approval and do the blood draw or send you to a lab.

That is ridiculously long. Your doctor can give an order form for your daughter to get tested when you are in this coming week. If not, then have them tell the pedi to do it.
